Position Overview: Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter
As a Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter, you will serve as the go-to expert for high-risk appraisals across all our loan programs. Your role will involve meticulously reviewing complex appraisal reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Additionally, you will handle escalations within the department while assisting with regular appraisal review duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough initial reviews of high-risk appraisal reports, ensuring alignment with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Verify consistency of appraisal data with relevant documents and systems, and communicate necessary revisions to stakeholders.
- Act as the subject matter expert for escalated appraisal-related queries, providing guidance to internal teams and external parties.
- Proactively assess and improve the efficiency of the appraisal process, recommending adjustments to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Perform special reviews on closed loans and repurchase requests, offering expert opinions on property valuation.
- Assist in policy development and provide training to appraisal team members and coordinators.
Requirements:
- Licensed real estate appraiser with 5-10+ years of experience, or equivalent mortgage-related experience.
- Expertise in evaluating high-risk appraisals and complex properties.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Capacity to train and mentor junior team members.
- Proficiency in managing workload effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, and other high-risk appraisal products preferred.
- Familiarity with Encompass and/or FNC software is advantageous.
Compensation: $40-$45 per hour
