• The Senior Application Systems Specialist will provide day-to-day technical and/or process support for business applications that are used by Client to enable more efficient business operations, which sometimes function as lead or point on the effort.  
• This role will install and configure software, write database and operating system scripts, work with other IT staff/partners on operating system or database upgrades and participate in other technical projects as needed.  
• This role will also continue to build and maintain business partner relationships to better understand the business and anticipate needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Provides support/maintenance for software and hardware for applications in an area of responsibility, often acting as lead or point on the initiative.  
• This includes reacting to internal alerts, service desk tickets and participating in after hours on call support.  
• Coordinate with IT colleagues and external partners to proactively approach issues and determine the impact of changes in other areas and to mitigate risk and communicate with business partners as needed.  
• This includes working with both onshore and offshore resources to delegate tasks and provide training to help with support coverage.
• Works with business partners to diagnose, resolve and document issues related to the applications in an area of responsibility; document technical solutions and processes for collaboration with developers and IT support resources including managed service providers.
• If business facing Works with business partners to understand their needs / requirements for new / changed functionality.  
• Analyzes detailed business/functional/technical requirements and specifications for applications in your area.  
• Creates, configures or enhances applications or reports to improve the efficiency of business operations.  
• Coordinates with development resources on the identification, development and prioritization of enhancements to the application, systems or platform. 
• If more technical Leads the development and maintenance of general scripts (batch, VBScript, PowerShell, SQL, etc.), that are used in the support of the business applications in an area.  
• Leads development of ad-hoc scripts or queries, as needed, to gather information requested by business partners.  
• Coordinates with development resources on the identification, development and prioritization of enhancements to the application, system or platform.
• Leads project work to maintain/upgrade components of the business applications in an area of responsibility.  
• This consists of items such as OS upgrades, firmware upgrades, database upgrades, application updates/upgrades and hardware/software testing.   
• This involves working across multiple teams, both internal and external.
• Follow Corporate and IT policies and procedures.  
• Ensure IT security is consulted regarding projects using new technology, guaranteeing compliance with all auditing, security, data privacy, and PCI regulations.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 7 years' experience required 
• Preferred 7-10+ years of experience in application development and/or support with experience in SQL Server, Oracle, Java, PowerShell and Windows Server 2012/2016. 
• Proven ability working with cross-functional teams, as well as working independently to solve complex problems. 

VLIMS:

• Preferred 5+ years of experience in development/configuration and/or support of the STARLIMS Application 
• Preferred 2+ years of experience in configuration and/or support of the SAP QM Module

• Experience with retail environment a plus 
• App Dev and Architecture
• Sound foundational knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture 
• Experience with Microsoft operating system platforms 
• SQL proficiency (Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL) 
• Basic Office 365 competency (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
• Leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, lead, coach, motivate and work through others (even those outside of your reporting structure) to achieve desired results 
• Strong interpersonal skills

• General knowledge of chemistry, laboratory best practices and test methodology 
• STARLIMS Design and Administration 
• Exposure to Microsoft TFS is a plus
