The Senior Quality Operations Data Analyst is responsible for supporting all healthcare analytical efforts of the fast-growing company's various value-based contracts ranging from MSSP ACOs, Medicare Advantage Plans, and Commercial ACOs. This role will use state of the art population health system, data warehouse, electronic health record, and various payer portals and reports to gather, analyze, and present actionable solutions to complex healthcare issues. The Analyst works closely with the company's clinical integration, care management, pharmacy, and quality teams to provide meaningful data for clinical transformation, and quality and process improvement initiatives. Obtains, understands, and communicates reporting specifications from government agencies and other entities.
Responsibilities
• Translate the needs of the Quality department into database query language for quality operations, data analysis, and data mining requirements.
• Thoroughly understand Quality business operations and how to use the data warehouse to provide operational and analytical data tools to deliver competitive advantage through demonstrable Quality and patient experience scores.
• Work with other analytical, clinical, and operational teams to understand the complete patient experience.
• Discover new ways Quality can contribute to improving overall patient experience and health, while at the same time optimizing clinical resource utilization.
• Analyze the impact of Quality on operational efficiencies - right doctor, place, time, treatment, testing, and medications.
• Create proactive analyses comparing company results to industry data to evaluate program performance for internal management and internal clients.
• Develop and produce quality, financial, and clinical reports and analyses on a periodic and ad-hoc basis for care coordination staff as well as physicians and executive leadership.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports to include regularly scheduled and ad-hoc reporting requests. Responsible for all follow-up and/or research requests regarding physician data.
• Participate in project teams, analyzing various new programs, projects, or ventures that require analysis of clinical, claims, events, or other data.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and other documents and present these materials in meetings.
• Identify problematic areas and research to determine the best course of action to correct data.
• Participate in high-level business initiatives and assist with all levels of metric reporting.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant government and third-party healthcare initiatives in which the company participates. It is assumed, to maintain these skills, that relevant seminars, books, periodicals, and regulations be routinely reviewed.
• Demonstrate excellent guest service to internal team members and patients.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in healthcare
• 4+ years of experience in utilizing and understanding the Electronic Medical Record systems, data warehouses, and population health management systems strongly preferred.
• Advanced working knowledge of core analytic tools (Excel, SQL, Python).
• Familiarity with data visualization software like Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, etc.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Ability to analyze and interpret the raw data and data trends to properly communicate to management and end users and create action-oriented plans that will result in positive movement of measures.
• Ability to understand the business implications and goals of the data being presented
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel software; including pivot tables and other advanced data manipulation techniques; SQL Server; Proficiency in Python, including libraries for data manipulation and analysis such as Pandas and NumPy.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
