Job Summary:
The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis will report to the Manager, System Financial Planning & Analysis and support the operating, capital, and financial forecasting processes. This role will provide financial assessments including business plans and pro forma development that feed into the operating and capital budget as well as the long-term financial forecast process. This position will update and maintain the financial planning tool (Strata strategic planning) and create procedures to ensure rigorous data quality testing exists and are on target with the financial planning cycle. This position will utilize prior financial analysis experience to enhance reporting processes by utilizing SQL and data visualization tool (Tableau) to provide insightful, actionable reports. In conjunction with the Manager, System Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Analyst will work with Operations, Strategy and Business Development, Managed Care, Clinical Departments, Information Technology, Service Line leaders and others to ensure processes are followed that support the financial planning & analysis guiding principles and deliverables cycle. The Senior Analyst will partner with the Financial Operations, Financial Analytics, and Decision Support teams to align technology, process, and data. The Senior Analyst will conduct and complete special projects as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
- Creates FP&A reporting suite that will support system-wide operational and capital investment decisions. Includes import utilities, data maintenance, data validation and key financial reports. Utilizes SQL and strong data management skills to improve data flow processes and enable dynamic financial reporting capabilities.
- Supports the operating, capital and long-term financial forecasting processes
-Operating: evaluates financial impact of new and expansion of clinical services
-Capital: provides financial guidance and assistance to quantify the financial impact of projects
-Long-term: utilizes Strata strategic planning tool to input key data elements and model scenarios based on the enterprise strategic plan - Develops expertise in Strata strategic planning tool and enhances current financial planning process through enhancement to process, technology and systems. Leverage prior experience with financial planning tools and data management to enable dynamic scenario modeling and sensitivity analysis.
- Partner with other Departments to continually assess and process changes and enhancements needed to support high value work. Develop trust with operational and clinical leaders by utilizing sound financial modeling methodologies, creating reliable systems to produce reports and decreasing the financial planning cycle time.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Mathematics or Computer Science
- Minimum of five (5) years of financial analytical experience
- Three (3) years of which are in a health care setting
- Minimum of three (3) years experience with hospital and physician reimbursement methodologies, operational and capital budget processes, cost accounting data, and patient encounter/charge detail data
- Experience with financial statement reconciliation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, etc.), proficient with financial modeling in Excel and other financial tools, and cross-functional team exposure strongly preferred
- Highly proficient with Tableau or similar data visualization tools
- Expert in financial modeling and sensitivity analysis
- Strong data management skills
- Proficient in SQL
- Strong project management skills
- Extremely strong analytical, statistical, problem-solving skills and business acumen
- Identify key issues and synthesize complex information into clear talking points and action items
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Independent / critical thinker
- Self-starting, self-directing, and enthusiastic
