As a Senior Advanced Optics Engineer you’ll design, develop, build and test systems and products based on optic, photonic and laser technologies. This involves interacting with device, hardware and software design teams to assist in the overall development of optical systems; modeling and analysis; specifying, selecting and qualifying active and passive optical components, developing and benchmarking system performance models, developing and implementing test procedures and/or evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently to determine approaches to challenges, and may provide leadership and direction to less experienced team members.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
- Solid experience in the use of optical and electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
- Strong knowledge of telecommunication applications and electrical engineering design tools
- Ability to recognize and clearly report information relevant to sound electro-optical engineering design
- Familiarity with one or more of the following: MATLAB, Lumerical, Zemax, VPI, Python, C/C++, LabView
- Preferred: Experience with Free Space Optical communications systems, including link budget analysis, telescope design, Pointing Acquisition and Tracking design, hardware and/or software subsytems design
- Ability to think creatively and multi-task
- Ability to frequently contribute to the development of new optical theories and methods
- Keeps abreast of technology trends
- Outstanding communication skills
- Leadership and mentoring skills and experience
