Berkshire Hathaway GUARD currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Actuarial Analyst to join the Actuarial Department at Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Companies. The position can be located in Wilkes-Barre (PA), New York City (NY), Parsippany (NJ), Chicago (IL), Philadelphia (PA), Atlanta (GA), Dallas (TX), or Phoenix (AZ). The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
This position supports the organization's key actuarial functions through conducting analysis, providing valuable insights, and developing and maintaining actuarial processes
Duties Include:
- Complete basic actuarial analysis related to pricing
- Collaborate within the team to develop and maintain actuarial tools and processes to improve the quality and efficiency of actuarial analyses.
- Implement methodology enhancements and process efficiencies within the department.
- Maintain appropriate documentation that allows another actuarial staff member to understand and recreate the work product.
- Assist with industry research and studies to support actuarial projects.
- Perform basic data preparation, balancing, and reasonability checks using SQL or other data tools to support actuarial analyses and reporting requirements.
- Analyze data and trends to uncover solutions to business challenges.
- Create actuarial reports summarizing analysis results and communicate within the department.
- Grow and develop team members as appropriate through peer review.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or another field with a rigorous mathematics background.
- Three or more years of actuarial experience and successful completion of four or more actuarial exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Commercial lines experience preferred.
- Results-oriented with the ability to multi-task and adjust priorities when necessary.
- Strong technical skills including Microsoft Excel and programming required.
- Experience with relational databases required. Experience with SQL preferred.
