Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist
Job Summary:
The Senior Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist is responsible for overseeing the accounts receivable processes, driving efficient collections, resolving complex issues, and providing strategic insights to improve cash flow management. This senior-level role requires extensive experience in AR operations, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and collaborate across teams while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Invoice Management: Oversee the generation and issuance of accurate, timely invoices while ensuring compliance with contract terms and company policies.
- Payment Collection Strategy: Develop and implement effective strategies for collecting outstanding balances, including proactive customer outreach and escalation of delinquent accounts.
- Payment Reconciliation: Supervise and perform accurate posting of payments, ensuring all transactions are reconciled promptly and discrepancies are resolved efficiently.
- Accounts Monitoring: Manage AR aging reports, analyze trends, and take proactive steps to reduce overdue accounts and improve collection timelines.
- Dispute Resolution Leadership: Serve as the primary escalation point for complex billing discrepancies, collaborating with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolutions.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within AR processes, implement automation tools, and recommend best practices to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Partner with cross-functional teams to address AR-related matters and provide guidance and training to junior team members.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present AR metrics and insights to senior leadership, highlighting key trends and actionable recommendations.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations regarding AR procedures.
- Special Projects: Lead or participate in special projects related to process enhancements, system implementations, and reporting initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; advanced certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years in accounts receivable, accounting, or a similar finance role.
- Industry-specific AR experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
- Familiarity with AR automation tools and collection software.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and AR-specific accounting principles.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and solution-focused.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and provide leadership with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a strategic and forward-thinking approach.

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
