Job Description
The Sr. Manager of Accounting reports to the Controller and has direct oversight of all aspects of revenue recognition and cost of goods sold accounting. Additionally, you’ll coach, develop, and lead a small team of Accountants. You’ll lean into your strategic and consultative approach to drive impact as a key business partner and uncover opportunities/ tease out solutions that focus on incremental process improvement and efficiency. Last, but certainly not least, in partnership with your Corporate Finance peers, you’ll seek out opportunities to increase our ability to anticipate business fluctuations and drive informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Oversee the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards.
- Lead the COGS accounting process, ensuring accuracy and completeness in the recording of all direct costs.
- Work with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to accurately capture inventory and cost data.
- Partner with Finance, Operations and other cross-functional teams to collect and share data to assist in presenting complete and accurate financial records.
- Provide guidance and coaching with a focus on skill development, collaboration, and empowerment to think creatively and drive innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting required; Masters Degree/CPA preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and cost accounting principles
- Progressive accounting experience including managing a small team; a mix of public accounting experience and retail/consumer market experience preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well organized and capable of managing multiple projects in dynamic fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in accounting software (or equivalent ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
