Our company is on the lookout for a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. This position is permanent and full-time, offering an excellent opportunity to work in the fast-paced and exciting construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of accounting principles and practices, with a particular focus on construction project cost experience.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accounting Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing and managing the daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end closing processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
2. Monitoring and analyzing accounting data and produce financial reports or statements in accordance with GAAP.
3. Managing and supervising the preparation and analysis of WIP schedules.
4. Utilizing Visa Viewpoint or equivalent software for project management and financial analysis.
5. Ensuring compliance with all internal processes and legal requirements.
6. Establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
7. Coordinating and completing annual audits, providing recommendations for improving procedures and systems for initiating corrective actions.
8. Collaborating with project management teams to track job costs, analyze profitability, and prepare financial forecasts.
9. Advising management on the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
10. Responding to inquiries from the Director of Finance, and other finance and firm-wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification will be considered an asset.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in the construction industry.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience with GAAP.
4. Proficiency in Visa Viewpoint or equivalent software.
5. Proven experience in the preparation and analysis of WIP schedules.
6. Strong understanding of month-end and year-end processes.
7. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a concise and easily understandable manner.
9. Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
10. High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
