We are actively searching for our newly created Senior Accounting Manager to be located at our corporate office in the Johns Island, SC area. We need a strong #2. You will report directly to the CFO with a line to Executive Leadership, being hands-on with all of the day-to-day financial accounting, month-end close, and analysis functions, while overseeing 3 staff. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations and includes leading a team of three staff members.
Job Summary: The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day financial accounting duties, including the preparation of financial statements and overseeing the month-end close process. This role also involves supervising three staff members who handle Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions and support the financial accounting. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Controller to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting and operations.
Key Responsibilities for the Accounting Manager:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations in all financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP.
Month-End Close Process
- Coordinate and manage the month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial report preparation.
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the close process.
Team Supervision
- Supervise and mentor three staff members responsible for AR and AP functions.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to team members.
- Ensure efficient and accurate processing of AR and AP transactions.
Accounts Receivable (AR) Oversight
- Monitor AR activities, including invoicing, collections, and aging reports.
- Ensure timely resolution of AR issues and customer disputes.
- Implement and maintain effective AR processes and controls.
Accounts Payable (AP) Oversight
- Oversee AP functions, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of AP transactions and adherence to company policies.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Assist in preparing for audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Stay informed of industry trends and changes in regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and operational excellence.
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting, including experience with financial statement preparation and month-end close processes.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and other departments.
