Position Summary
The Senior Accounting Analyst works closely with the CFO and undertakes all aspects of Compliance, Tax Accounting, General Accounting, and any special projects as directed. The Senior Accounting Analyst reports to the Controller. This role requires a strong understanding of corporate financial principles and the ability to analyze financial statements is needed.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Compliance – responsible for completing any statutory filing of State requirements from a financial point of view
- Tax Accounting – responsible for ensuring timely payment of and coordination of tax filing – state, local, & federal.
- General Accounting – participates in month-end close including PTO, fixed assets, taxes, hourly payroll accrual, and other items
- Prepare monthly journal entries and bank reconciliations
- Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue
- Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert CFO as needed
- Coordinate semi-annual audits. Assist CFO in running audits.
- Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Should be well-versed in reviewing and analyzing reports prepared by staff accountants
- Other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Expert Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s, Macros, etc.) and other MS Office Suite applications
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Diligence with an analytical and audit-oriented mindset
- Creative problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Independent initiative-taker with a strong commitment to successful completion
- Must be able to take direction and take charge of completing projects and routine tasks.
Education & Experience
- Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or a Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
- 4+ years of senior-level accounting experience in a corporate environment required
