Job Title: Senior Accountant (Contract to Hire)
Location: Washington, DC
Pay Rate: $28-30 per hour
Conversion Salary: $60-70k annually
Job Description: Addison Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a well-established team in Washington, DC. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate with benefits and the potential for long-term career growth. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing general accounting processes, managing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. You will work closely with both internal teams and external auditors to maintain accurate financial records, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and provide financial insights for decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Perform reconciliations for all general ledger accounts, including bank and credit card accounts.
- Review journal entries and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
- Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and smooth business operations.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in general accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (NetSuite is a plus).
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and accounting best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
