Our organization, a well-regarded national non-profit organization for disability rights, is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic planning. This position requires a detail-oriented, proactive, and results-driven individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
2. Coordinating and assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes.
3. Ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial close, including account reconciliations and analysis of results.
4. Assisting with internal and external audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
5. Implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
6. Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
7. Providing financial analysis and recommendations to senior management.
8. Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and developments in financial reporting and regulation.
9. Liaising with other departments to ensure alignment between accounting and business operations.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this exciting role, you must possess the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. *CPA is required.*
2. At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience - *nonprofit accounting experience required*
3. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
4. Proficiency in financial reporting software and advanced Excel skills.
5. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
6. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and concise manner.
8. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
9. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
10. Proven leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
**This position can be fully remote but *candidates must be based in Eastern or Central Time Zone.***
