Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the accounting functions for manufacturing operations. This role requires a deep understanding of cost accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee general ledger functions, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Manage the cost accounting function, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
- Monitor and analyze production costs, labor, and material expenses to provide insights and recommendations for improving efficiency.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with operations and management.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Assist with external audits and internal control reviews.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline workflows and optimize accounting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
