Senior Accountant
The Gatesworth, the premier senior living community in St. Louis, is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance organization. This role will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organizations financial information while creating efficiencies within our well-established processes and procedures.
The ideal Senior Accountant will be collaborative, with strong analytical skills, a great attention to detail and good verbal and written communication skills. They will bring a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines along with experience in full cycle accounting with an emphasis on financial reporting and analysis. This role will report to the Corporate Controller.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the monthly close process, including journal entry preparation and posting, balance sheet reconciliations and all related financial reporting
- Maintain the general ledger by applying generally accepted accounting principles to all transactions
- Remain current on changes in accounting rules
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations monthly and maintain corresponding work papers, including accounts payable, prepaid reconciliations, bank account and accrued reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Collaborate with other accounting team members to ensure timely monthly close and implementation of process improvements
- Ensure all processes are appropriately documented and assist in the on-going documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Work closely with operational leaders to manage the annual budget processes along with all related financial reporting and analysis
- Coordinate with external CPAs to prepare year-end audit and tax return information
- Identify and implement enhanced business processes and internal controls
- Perform ad hoc projects as needed
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of related experience, preferably in public accounting or in the senior health care industry
- Strong technical accounting background, complementing analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office; specifically Word and Excel
- Experience with Great Plains and Point Click Care software is preferred
- Experience with Yardi or Yardi Breeze is a plus
- Ability to grow with the organization
