Our client is a leading construction company with multiple entities reporting through it. They specialize in various aspects of new construction and project management. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join their team and contribute to their success.
Senior Accountant Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant with strong general accounting knowledge, GAAP expertise, and preferably experience in public accounting or on the CPA track. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various accounting functions including account reconciliations, job costing, AP and Payroll review, fixed asset tracking, and more. This role will involve overseeing one of our operating entities, reviewing financial statements, and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial reports for ownership.
Senior Accountant Responsibilities:
- Account Reconciliations: Perform accurate and timely account reconciliations, understanding the rationale behind accruals.
- AP and Payroll Review: Review accounts payable and payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Job Costing: Understand the relationship between job costing and accurate billing, ensuring proper posting and tracking.
- Financial Close: Lead the financial closing process, dedicating approximately 6 days per month.
- Fixed Asset Tracking: Maintain detailed records of fixed assets, including tracking maintenance and associated costs.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements for ownership, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Entity Oversight: Provide oversight for one of our operating entities, including reviewing the work of the AP/Payables Accountant, preparing reconciliations, and presenting financial statements.
- Payroll Review: Review payroll for all companies within the organization.
- GPS Tracking Maintenance: Track and maintain the cost of GPS tracking for fixed assets across all entities.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Monthly review and reconciliation of a significant portion of the balance sheet accounts for two operating entities.
- Miscellaneous Tasks: Undertake ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
Do You Have What It Take to be a Successful Senior Accountant?
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification or on the CPA track preferred.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office suite.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
