We are a rapidly growing utility construction firm seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant. In this role, you'll be responsible for the oversight and management of daily accounting activities. You will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, providing valuable insights that will drive strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial construction, in depth knowledge of job costing and WIP accounting, and advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities:
1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including month and year-end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, fixed assets, and check runs.
2. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other relevant reports.
3. Coordinate and complete annual audits, liaise with external auditors and manage financial audits.
4. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
5. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
6. Manage subcontractor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
7. Coordinate with the sales team to forecast future revenues and analyze financial data.
8. Utilize QuickBooks and Sage to manage and organize financial data.
9. Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in commercial construction.
3. Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction accounting, and cost analysis procedures (POC/WIP).
4. Proficiency in QuickBooks and Sage.
5. Strong experience with creating financial statements and cash flow reports.
6. Proven experience with managing subcontractor invoices.
7. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing duties.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
12. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
