Job Details
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of accounting activities related to our projects. This includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, and a strong understanding of the unique accounting needs of this sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and completing all accounting functions related to homebuilding projects, including job costing, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, including accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate tracking of costs and revenues for each project.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to support strategic decision-making, including project profitability, cost management, and financial forecasting.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, including job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
