Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health of their construction operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in accounting and construction financials, a strong knowledge of ERP software packages, and a passion for working in a collaborative environment. This position will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger functions and this person will act as a mentor to the team and report to the Controller. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- General Ledger Management: Oversee and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate and timely postings.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and management of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations for cost control.
- Job Costing and Project Accounting: Manage job costing for construction projects, including monitoring costs and progress, ensuring accurate allocation of costs to projects, and preparing cost reports.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Audit and Compliance: Assist in the preparation of audit schedules, ensure compliance with internal controls, and coordinate with external auditors during year-end audits.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and assist in managing working capital to meet operational needs.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, finance team members, and senior management to provide financial insight and support decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong experience with ERP accounting software packages (required).
- Knowledge of construction industry accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, and retention management.
