Senior Accountant - Boston, MA - Renewable Energy
A leading renewable energy service company focused on meeting net zero commitments within sustainable aviation fuel, clean hydrogen, advanced biofuels looking to hire a Senior Accountant to their growing team. This role will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of the Company's monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and for internal management purposes, including non GAAP measures like EBITDA and other key performance indicators. Maintaining the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting. The position will also assist with quarterly and annual audits and related reporting, including providing audit requests, preparing audit supporting schedules and drafting financial statements while maintaining the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting.
Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with internal controls and prepare financial reports.

Document accounting policies according to GAAP.

Prepare and/or review monthly packages for USD and CAD entities

Lead monthly calls with upper management explaining actual to budget variances

Maintain calculations for fixed assets and record depreciation

Prepare monthly two sets of consolidated financial statements, and other internal reports including a cash flow

Assist Controller with yearly audits including coordinating audit requests, preparing audit supporting schedules and drafting financial statements with notes

Identify and explain unusual financial statement fluctuations, and coordinate corrective action.

Perform ad hoc research related to a wide range of technical accounting and financial reporting matters

Condense large amounts of data to a more user-friendly format for senior management team

Collaborate with broader finance management team on initiatives including annual budget, year-end reporting, and new report development

Continually identify, develop and implement best accounting practices

Support other financial reporting needs of the department as needed

Other responsibilities and special projects, as necessary
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance or related field required, MBA or Master's degree preferred

CPA and public accounting firm experience highly preferred
-
3+ years of work experience in Accounting, Audit or related Finance experience with experience preparing journal entries

Experience compiling financial statements, footnotes and related reference aids

Ability to research and conclude on accounting issues as they arise, including documenting conclusions in technical memos as needed

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including, Sum If, V-Lookups, pivot tables, VBA and macros.
