We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the Construction industry. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial accounting, reporting, and control activities, ensuring they meet the company's strategic objectives and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, and utilities.
2. Preparing and maintaining financial reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with budget and close processes, conducting internal audits, and maintaining control systems.
3. Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
4. Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
5. Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
6. Preparing for annual audits and coordinate with the external auditors as necessary.
7. Implementing and maintaining comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
8. Creating financial reports based on data analysis, and providing strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.
9. Making recommendations for system improvements, implementing new systems, and training staff in their use.
10. Ensuring the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Accountant position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
3. Proven experience with ledger and account reconciliation, as well as preparing financial statements and tax reports.
4. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
5. High proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software packages.
6. Exceptional analytical skills, combined with excellent communication and presentation skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
8. Knowledge of construction industry accounting practices will be a significant advantage.
