Salary: $90,000 - $125,000 per year
A bit about us:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our real estate development firm. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the financial operations and reporting for our real estate projects. You will work closely with the accounting team, project managers, and executives to ensure accurate and timely reporting and compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and have a strong background in real estate accounting.
The ideal Senior Accountant has 3-5 years of experience preferably public accounting experience that has moved into construction, real estate or a similar industry and is looking to work for a growing real estate developer. The perfect candidate is someone who has the desire to learn, grow and loves process improvement and can give insight into making operations stronger as the company continues to expand! MRI and/or Yardi experience are preferred but not required.

Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Maintain financial records and general ledgers of real estate projects from inception to completion.
2. Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements preparation.
3. Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and analysis, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
4. Analyze project costs, budgets, and variances to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost-saving measures.
5. Collaborate with project managers to review project expenses, ensure accuracy, and provide financial guidance and support.
6. Prepare regular financial forecasts and cash flow projections for real estate projects, ensuring effective project planning and resource allocation.
7. Prepare detailed project cost reports, including budget-to-actual analysis, and present findings to executive management.
8. Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
9. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements, and company policies in all financial activities.
10. Assist in the preparation and coordination of external financial audits and tax filings.
11. Provide financial guidance and support to junior accounting staff, mentoring them for career development.
12. Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and industry practices to ensure compliance and best practices are followed.
13. Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the finance function.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation preferred.
2. Proven work experience as a Senior Accountant in the real estate industry, with a focus on development or property management.
3. Solid knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting standards.
4. Proficiency in real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
6. Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.
8. Working knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and statutes.
9. Prior experience with project cost accounting and financial analysis.
10. High integrity and commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.
