Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in supporting the Controller in their role of oversight and financial management.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
- Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
- Produces payroll by initiating computer processing; printing checks, verifying finished product.
- Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
- Avoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
- Secures financial information by completing database backups.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to obtain necessary financial information and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial transactions, records, and reports.
- Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and assisting auditors with their inquiries.
- Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial information.
- Stay updated on relevant accounting regulations and best practices to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Proven experience in accounting will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably as an accounting clerk.
- Experience working in multiple legal entities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial industry procedures.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
