We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Accountant to join our team in the farming & transportation industries. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including daily bank reconciliation, sales agent commission review, payroll reconciliation, month-end close processing, and assisting with annual audit preparations. This role requires a high level of analytical skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bank reconciliation of all bank accounts.
- Review any Sales Agent’s commission discrepancies and correct them if necessary.
- Reconcile payroll register for bi-monthly payroll, including preparing and posting the payroll journal entries.
- Calculate Use tax at month end, with the assistance of the Controller.
- Process month-end close and post all necessary journal entries in preparation.
- Prepare financial analyses and reports.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with annual audit preparations and investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Assist the Controller in the preparation of the annual budget and year-end.
- Verify and post account receivable, following established procedures for processing receipts, cash, credit cards, etc.
- Perform other accounting duties and support the department as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the farming or transportation industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills with a thorough attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and experience resolving complex accounting issues.
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.
- Experience in preparing financial reports and conducting financial analysis.
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to draw conclusions from financial data.
