About the Job
Garfield County Hospital District is seeking an experienced individual as a Senior Accountant. Candidate will be a key player in ensuring the smooth and accurate operations of accounting processes and will work in coordination with Payroll and Accounts Payable team. The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree in accounting with 2 years of experience, or 4 years previous experience as an accountant, or a combination. Experience in a healthcare setting is desired but not required.
This position is responsible for maintaining the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, as well as interface between the general ledger and other operating systems. You'll also participate in audit and cost report activities, budget activities, statistical record keeping, and financial reporting.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensures proper timing of recording financial transactions including the matching of revenues and expenses with the corresponding accounting periods
- Oversees the completeness and accuracy of financial records, including proper timing and coding of revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities, adherence to accepted accounting principles and proper accounting for accruals, pre-paids, and deferrals
- Prepares quarterly data bank, workers compensation reporting in a timely manner
- Coordinates audit activities of financial auditors and other regulatory agency audits
- Analyzes data from all departments in order to ensure accuracy of all financial reports
- Must be advanced in Microsoft Excel, to create pivot tables, data sorting and higher level Excel skills

For this role, the compensation range is $31-$38 per hour, dependent upon experience.
