NexMetro is an innovative real estate developer revolutionizing how consumers think about housing. We are seeking a Senior Accountant in Phoenix! The ideal candidate is a driven, detail-oriented individual, willing to dig in and learn about our business. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller to manage the day-to-day maintenance of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations and preparation of monthly accounting reports.

Summary of Responsibilities:
- Prepare timely and accurate accounting management reports, budgets and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, in accordance with GAAP, as part of the monthly close.
- Maintain complex ledgers; reconcile and analyze reports/ledgers.
- Accurately collect, process, and post A/R.
- Maintain daily treasury activity and reconcile bank accounts monthly.
- Identify GAAP to management reporting differences in job costing activities.
- Comply with and enforce existing internal controls while monitoring and suggesting improvements as needed.
- Update and maintain fixed asset schedules for underlying properties.
- At the end of the period, record accurate accruals, deferrals, reclasses and intercompany entries into the company's accounting ledger; perform account analysist to verify entries and balances are correct.
- Stay current with industry best practices; recommend and implement continuous improvement strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
- Assist Controller and Assistant with special projects.
- Represent NexMetro in a professional manner at all times.
- Conform to company apparel standards and set a positive example for colleagues.
- Perform all duties as directed and assist the overall team effort in any way possible.
Summary of Ideal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- CPA licensure is a plus, but not required.
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Skill in reading and interpreting statistical and financial data.
- High proficiency with Yardi or other accounting software.
- MS Office advanced computer skills. Excel intermediate to advanced level.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
- Knowledge of cash management and budgeting.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to sort through information, assess priorities and resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a focus on timely, accurate results.
- Ability to accept & minimize the stress of meeting all monthly deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Works well with others and thrives in a team-oriented environment.
- 2-4 years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in the construction or property management industry.
