This role will also involve reconciling payroll accounts, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll processes.

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will also involve reconciling payroll accounts, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze, reconcile, and adjust the biweekly payroll. Research and resolve reconciling items. Prepare and post the payroll journal entry and the monthly payroll accrual journal entry to meet deadlines for financial reporting.
- Calculate and prepare documentation for Excess Compensation fund transfers based on HUD guidelines. Audit monthly to ensure AH is in compliance with HUD regulations.
- Analyze, reconcile, and generate a payroll report of monthly expenses for Choice Neighborhood and ROSS (FSS) grants and submit to grant management administrator.
- Benefit Contract Reconciliations – (ex (EAP)). HR posts new benefit rates annually, if I note a discrepancy of what is setup in Workday, I review the contract to ensure Workday is processing the allocation correctly, if not I work with HR to fix it.

- Create internal invoices related to multiple Payroll items and HAP for the submittal of payments (i.e., Charitable Contributions), refunds, etc
- Obtain, analyze, and compile COBRA information and supply to Cash Management for deposited remittances from third party vendor
- Analyze and reconcile Monthly and Quarterly payroll taxes withheld.
- Resolve any Federal, State or Local Payroll Tax variances or issues.
- Analyze, reconcile, and resolve other voluntary and involuntary benefit and payroll deductions.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and determine variances with resolutions
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Accountant, Payroll Specialist, or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and tax compliance.
- Proficiency in payroll software. Workday experience is a plus.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
