We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the medical industry. This is a permanent full-time position that will play a key role in our finance department. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of government contract billing and accounting, and a strong understanding of financial regulations and procedures. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements, conducting budget analyses, and managing general accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all general ledger transactions and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
3. Manage the billing process for government contracts, ensuring all invoices are accurate and sent out in a timely manner.
4. Conduct regular budget analyses, financial forecasts, and cost analyses to support strategic decision-making.
5. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
6. Streamline accounting functions and operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
7. Participate in financial audits and work closely with auditors to ensure the successful completion of the audit process.
8. Assists in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
9. Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on government contract billing and accounting.
3. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and legislation.
4. Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
5. Exceptional analytical skills and experience creating reports and presentations.
6. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information to non-financial staff and stakeholders.
8. Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
9. Experience in the medical industry is a plus.
