Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a repeat client in the search for their next Senior Accountant. This position will report directly to the controller and will be the primary person responsible for all month-end closing activities. Strong reconciliation skills are required for this position, specifically experience reconciling bank statements, credit cards, AP, and AR. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day general ledger accounting activities and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This is a hybrid role, requiring multiple days onsite, in their office based in Laurel, MD. If intersted, please don't hesitate to apply with your most up-to-date resume!
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the preparation, posting, and maintenance of journal entries for monthly and quarterly close processes.
Ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP.
Perform monthly account reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved.
Assist in preparing financial reports for management, including variance analysis and explanations.
Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for auditors.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Monitor and enforce compliance with federal and state regulations and funding restrictions relevant to the organization.
Provide analysis of financial performance and assist in strategic decision-making.
Work closely with other departments (programs, development, etc.) to provide financial insights and ensure proper allocation of funds.
Identify opportunities for process improvement in accounting functions and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.
