Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is accountable for the comprehensive oversight of monthly accounting and financial statement preparation for Woodlawns and Mariani Landscape. In addition to executing daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting, the Senior Accountant will spearhead strategic initiatives aimed at refining accounting processes and fortifying financial systems. This role focuses on accelerating the accounting close process, fortifying financial controls, and orchestrating process enhancements to streamline operations effectively.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of the monthly accounting close for Woodlawns and Mariani Landscape to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting at month-end.
- Conduct complex balance sheet account reconciliations, including Cash, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory, and other designated accounts under the direction of the Assistant Controller.
- Pioneering process enhancements to transition from manual to automated processes, leveraging NetSuite ERP and other cutting-edge tools.
- Elevate monthly financial reporting standards by incorporating comprehensive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) encompassing revenue by customer segment, working capital metrics (e.g., DSO, DPO, DIOH), customer orders, backlog statistics, labor metrics, and more.
- Implement robust internal controls for Woodlawns and Mariani Landscape, including Balance Sheet account reconciliations and expenditure approval documentation.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Controller and accounting team members in managing fixed assets effectively.
- Assume a pivotal role during the annual year-end audit by providing requisite data to auditors and addressing audit inquiries expediently.
- Undertake various tasks and special projects as delegated by the Assistant Controller.
Position Qualifications: Experience:
- Possess 4+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, demonstrating proficiency in end-to-end accounting oversight.
- Proven track record in identifying and executing process enhancements within accounting functions and administrative operations.
- Prior exposure to entrepreneurial, high-growth environments preferred.
Education:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation is advantageous but not mandatory.
Competencies:
- Exhibit advanced analytical aptitude and problem-solving prowess.
- Demonstrate mastery in Excel at an Advanced level.
- Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite is highly desirable.
- Proficient in ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting standards.
- Exceptional ability to distill complex financial information and communicate effectively.
