Tri Pointe Homes is looking for an experienced individual to join our talented group as a Senior Accountant.
Position Highlights: The ideal candidate will be involved in various aspects of corporate accounting, including financial reporting, technical accounting research, account reconciliations and journal entries.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations for various asset and liability accounts, investigating and resolving outstanding items on time
- Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
- Assist in the SEC reporting process, including the preparation of supporting schedules to the financial statements and footnote disclosures in Workiva Wdesk and OneStream as well as the tie out of public financial reports.
- Assist Controller and Assistant Controller with month end close responsibilities, including preparing journal entries for accruals, amortizations, and various other month end entries to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
- Assist with completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings.
- Prepare all land acquisition journal entries, including assisting in the preparation of the land deposit tracking schedule
- Assist in stock compensation accounting process and tracking of executive stock ownership for reporting (Form 4s, Proxy, etc.)
- Understand the implications of new accounting standards on the Company and assist with associated implementation projects
- Interact with external and internal auditors to ensure timely completion of the audit of the Company’s consolidated financial statements, including quarterly reviews.
- Assist with quarterly and year end audits, including pulling and organizing support
- Assist in various efforts to improve the efficiency surrounding the data collection and reporting by developing automated processes and applications
- Complete monthly detailed comparison on our accounting systems financial statements to that of our reporting system for accuracy and completeness.
- Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
- Assist Controller and Assistant Controller with standardization of accounting practices across multiple divisions and consolidating multiple divisions for reporting.
- Assist job cost team with monthly entries, budget reviews and analyses, and other tasks as assigned.
- Prepare and distribute month end reports to divisions.
- Prepare ad hoc reports, as needed
- Assist staff accountant with credit card and expense report processing, as needed
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a Staff or Senior Accountant position
- Public Accounting experience, a minimum of two years, is preferred
- Demonstrate strategic and creative thinking ability
- Proficient Excel skills
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX.
- Knowledge of JD Edwards and OneStream is a plus
- Knowledge of Wdesk is a plus
- Knowledge of Concur or ChromeRiver is a plus
- Knowledge of homebuilding accounting is a plus
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Compensation & Benefits:
- Base Salary: The expected Base Salary range for this position is between $40.87-49.04 per hour, equivalent to $85,000-102,000 per year, depending on experience and skillset. Base Salary is paid bi-weekly, every other Friday.
- Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual performance-based cash bonus. Bonuses are earned, calculated and paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company’s applicable incentive plan document.
