Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are now hiring a Senior Accountant - Grants and Contracts. The Senior Accountant - Grants and Contracts will be based out of our Newton, PA office and will occasionally be expected to commute to our headquarters in Princeton, NJ. This person is responsible for maintaining our portfolio of grants and contracts as well as complete reporting for the Dr. Clarence York Foundation subsidiary.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all accounting tasks related to the administration, monitoring and reporting of grants
- Ensure compliance with funding source administrative guidelines
- Monitor and collect grant-related revenue
- Create, monitor, reconcile and ensure grant tags are appropriate in NetSuite
- Set up new grants in NetSuite
- Manage AP and AR activities for grants
- Report monthly on open grants and review balances/timeline with supervisors
- Provide basic financial oversight for funds related to grant projects
- Act as a point of contact for annual audits
- Prepare budget-to=actual grant spending analysis
- Close grants - carry out closing activities accordingly
- Complete monthly account reconciliations as assigned
- Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports for internal management reporting
- Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
- Employee must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
- 5 years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of two years in a nonprofit or government setting, with grant experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Entrepreneurial mindset, a self-starter who can function independently, and as a part of a team
- Excellent record-keeping and file maintenance
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
