Position Title: Senior Accountant
Position Overview:
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Reporting to the Controller or Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will play a critical role in financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making processes, contributing to the overall success of our organization.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant Role:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation, in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Manage general ledger accounts and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis and variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement, and provide insights to management for decision-making purposes.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, including revenue projections, expense analysis, and budget variance analysis, to support strategic planning and financial goals.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during annual audits and tax filings, providing documentation and support as needed to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to develop their skills and expertise in accounting principles and practices.
Preferred Skills and Experience for the Senior Accountant Role:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related role, with progressive responsibility and experience in financial reporting and analysis.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and drive process improvements and efficiencies in accounting operations.
