We are seeking a Senior Accountant in the Atlanta area! The Senior Accountant will perform general accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and ensuring timely month-end closing, accruals, and tracking relative to the operating budget. This person will assist with preparing budgets and forecasting analyses. The Senior Accountant will regularly communicate with auditors and tax preparation consultants to ensure company audit and tax filings proceed on schedule.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant in the Atlanta area! The Senior Accountant will perform general accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and ensuring timely month-end closing, accruals, and tracking relative to the operating budget. This person will assist with preparing budgets and forecasting analyses. - Prepare accurate journal entries and perform accurate general ledger account reconciliations.
- Perform the tracking of cash position and cash account reconciliation.
- Perform budget management: review monthly variances; identify and book accruals; provide input to monthly reviews with department heads; update the forecast monthly.
- Analyze financial statements for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Director of Finance’s attention
- Assist the Director of Finance with the development of the annual budget.
- Ad-hoc reporting: create reports on an as-needed basis for company management.
- Account tracking for specific items related to other department needs.
- Be a point person for the annual external and internal audits & prepare auditor-requested PBCs for documentation.
- Prepare tax schedules and reports for third-party tax preparers and be the point person for ensuring all tax filings and corresponding payments are made on time.
- Perform supervisory tasks over junior staff (plan, assign & review), help answer their questions, and assist them with special projects as needed.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance is required. An MBA or Master’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus.
- 4-5 years minimum work experience in accounting required.
- CPA or working towards a CPA preferred.
- Experience using accounting software to perform journal entries and pull financial statements required. Pro user with Quickbooks is required. Adaptable to new software.
- Thorough knowledge of accrual accounting concepts and procedures (GAAP)
- Ability to be flexible regarding assigned tasks.
- Professional approach to position – high degree of integrity.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including vlookups and pivot tables.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- A natural inclination to be inquisitive regarding issues related to accounts payable/budgeting areas.
- Able to embrace the importance of client service and demonstrate a continuous focus in this area.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal management and third-party consultants.
- Accuracy & strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter, motivated, superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
