Responsibilities:
- As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements, trial balances, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee the organization's accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing, accurate recording, and proper documentation.
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, including allocations, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process, collaborating with program managers and department heads to develop accurate and realistic financial projections.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations, tax laws, and nonprofit reporting requirements, including the preparation of annual tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Collaborate with auditors during annual audits, providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support for audit procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or public accounting setting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and nonprofit accounting regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
