Senior Accountant - Corporate - WESCO

About the Job
As a Senior Accountant, you will oversee various accounting functions as part of the Controllership team including the revenue recognition accounting process as well as associated analysis and reporting. This role will be involved in driving continuous improvement and implementing best practices across the organization. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with accounting professionals and serve as a transformational leader ensuring that the organization is following best in class digital solutions.
Responsibilities:
+ Prepare journal entries and consolidated financial statements for accuracy and completeness and assist the accounting team with month-end close.
+ Prepare schedules and provide accounting data to support annual audit as well as other monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, statements, and filings for a variety of key company stakeholders.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams including finance, tax, legal, and treasury to support tax initiatives, acquisitions, and business conversions.
+ Support multi-year accounting projects and initiatives by participating in global process design sessions and goal deployment.
+ Analyze accounts and review general ledger account reconciliations.
+ Researches and explains general ledger account variances to trend and prior year.
+ Interacts and supports internal and external auditors in completing audits.
+ Drive continuous process improvements which includes standardizing, automating and enhancing processes.
+ Ensure compliance with company corporate policies and procedures, GAAP, and SOX standards.
+ Perform research on revenue recognition matters and provide guidance to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards.
+ Review contracts and conduct detailed revenue recognition analysis as well as perform the accounting for project-based revenue contracts.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
+ 3 years required, 5 years preferred, of accounting experience
+ _Public accounting experience is strongly preferred, Big 4 or other national firm experience preferred._
+ _CPA qualified preferred_
+ _Working knowledge of Oracle, FCCS, or equivalent ERP system preferred._
+ _Knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls, and SOX requirements._
+ _Experience and knowledge of Project Accounting and Revenue Recognition_
+ Accounting theory, and application of principles and practices
+ Principles and practices of financial record keeping and reporting
+ Analysis and interpretation of complex financial and statistical data
+ Assembly and preparation of data for reports
+ Strong office and computer skills, _demonstrated ability with Microsoft Excel Preferred_
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Able to prepare, examine, and verify financial reports
+ Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
+ Able to research and analyze varieties of information
