Job Title: Senior Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Non-Profit Senior Accountant to add to our client's growing accounting department! The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in managing financial compliance, specifically related to grants and other non-profit funding sources. This role will support the organization’s mission by ensuring accurate financial reporting, general accounting duties, and compliance with grant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the organization’s accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Monitor and manage grant budgets, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately and spent in compliance with grant requirements.
- Work closely with program managers to track grant expenditures and ensure accurate reporting for funders.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of the annual audit and other compliance reviews.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Provide support and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit organization.
- Demonstrated experience with grant compliance and financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant regulations for non-profit organizations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or working towards CPA designation preferred but not required
- Experience working with federal, state, or private grants.
