We are currently seeking a motivated, hands-on Senior Accountant to join our high-growth, fast-paced veterinary company. The chosen candidate will be a team player and will assist with all elements of the accounting function, to include such areas as General Ledger accounting and reconciliation of banking and other operational transactions.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, which will include reviewing and recording financial activity
- Reconcile and record banking transactions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
- Assist with the timely completion of Accounts Payable processes
- Assist with back-office integration of new practice locations
- Assist with oversight of corporate level accounting, lease accounting and acquisition accounting
- Perform profit and loss reviews and variance analysis as needed and assist with preparation of periodic financial review packages
- Support financial and other audit related procedures
- Support companywide initiatives and Ad Hoc projects
- Lead and develop processes related to filing for state related taxes (i.e., sales, use)
- Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy
- Oversee processing transactions in financial systems, such as Sage Intacct, Bill.com and Divvy
- Ensure financial activity is accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP and company procedures
Required Criteria (100% must be met for consideration)
- Undergraduate accounting degree required
- 2-7 years of prior accounting experience preferred
- Advanced excel user, leveraging for efficiency and process improvement
- High level of customer service orientation
- Can work well both independently to oversee projects and be a team player supporting the team and department
- Highly analytical mind and not afraid to dive deep into the details and solve problems
- Detail and deadline oriented
- Ability to multi-task and have depth of understanding to review their work
- Local to the greater Chicago area
Compensation
Highly competitive compensation consisting of base salary and annual performance bonus.
