THE OPPORTUNITY
Heggerty is seeking a Senior Accountant to handle wide-scope projects, including annual audits, month-end close processes, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and coordinating accounting policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initially assist and eventually lead the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial reporting
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
- Assist in completing the annual audit
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Manage relationships with debt holders ensuring payments are made timely and according to covenants
- Manage all banking relationships
- Ensure sales tax is properly calculated, reported, and paid to appropriate authorities
- Help develop, implement, and monitor robust financial controls
- Utilize technical resources to research accounting topics and document conclusions
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects
REQUIREMENTS
- Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for our mission
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years of experience reviewing and directing the work of others
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Excel required
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central, Avalara, and Salesforce preferred
- Experience owning multiple parts of the month-end close process
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
