Position Summary:
- The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in the Finance department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and providing key insights into the company"s financial performance. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance and will be instrumental in supporting the company"s growth.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the general ledger, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Audit Preparation: Lead the preparation for external audits, ensuring all documentation and financial records are accurate and readily available.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and financial reporting standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function and implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to provide financial support and insights, including cost analysis, margin analysis, and financial planning.
- Special Projects: Participate in and lead special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor"s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and adaptable approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification: CPA or equivalent certification.
- Advanced Experience: Experience in a supervisory or managerial accounting role, with responsibilities including overseeing a team and managing complex financial processes.
- Industry Experience: Background in the space, defense or aerospace industry.
- ERP Systems: Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek, Oracle) and implementing accounting systems improvements.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Experience assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes for a department or organization.
- Audit Leadership: Experience leading external audit preparation and interfacing with auditors.
- Process Improvement: Proven track record in identifying and implementing process improvements in accounting functions to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Strategic Insight: Ability to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
