Document Crunch is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join out dynamic, tight-knit team.
This role will lead our accounting function and oversee general accounting operations, payroll, accounts receivable (A/R) collections, and accounts payable (A/P). This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, improving cash flow through effective collections, and optimizing payroll processes. The ideal candidate will bring a background in B2B SaaS, preferably in a startup environment, with a strong understanding of accounting principles, a proven track record in collections, and the ability to drive improvements in financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Accounting Function:
- Take ownership of the entire accounting function, providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship to team members to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
- Payroll Management:
- Own the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
- Accounts Receivable & Collections:
- Manage and monitor A/R balances to ensure timely collections, minimize overdue accounts, and improve cash flow.
- Develop and execute effective collections strategies to reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).
- Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for accuracy, compliance, and insight into company performance.
- Support the financial audit process, including preparation of documentation, coordination with external auditors, and timely resolution of audit inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and implement any recommended improvements.
- Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to prevent errors and ensure compliance.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to accounting systems and processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Standard Operating Procedures:
- Develop, document, and enforce standard operating procedures for payroll, A/R, and other accounting functions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between the accounting department and other teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment on financial objectives.
- Special Projects & Leadership Support:
- Partner with leadership on strategic projects, ad-hoc reporting, and other initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with SaaS revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Demonstrated experience in managing payroll, accounts receivable, and collections functions.
- Previous experience in a startup or high-growth B2B SaaS company is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and strong Excel skills.
- Analytical & Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for business decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a focus on collaboration and cross-functional engagement.
- Leadership & Organizational Skills:
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams, driving accuracy, efficiency, and strategic value within the finance department.

We are currently hiring in our Austin, TX and Atlanta, GA Hubs. While we are a remote first workplace, we want Crunchers in these locations to better facilitate periodic in-person meetings, get-togethers and training.
