About the Job
- Prepare and review project status reports for federal and private grants to ensure proper expenditure of funds against approved budgets
- Work with program and development staff to prepare budget proposals for federal, foundations, and other private fund applications
- Prepare external financial reports and drawdown requests to federal and local grantors for review
- Support the annual budget planning process by coordinating, identifying and communicating status and deadlines, preparing materials, entry into software, and monitoring for reforecasting
- Develop and maintain budget calendars, instructions, and other helpful information and budget tools plus technical assistance for departments
- Consult managers to ensure that budget modifications are made in accordance with program changes, and documentation submitted
- Serve as liaison with finance and budget/department managers; respond to budget inquiries, coding questions, and other requests
- Assist in the preparation of a budget and grant manual/instructions for end users and finance staff
- Coordinate and compile budget items for Supplemental Budget requests
- Manage federal conference pre-approval process from concept approval to final report
- Assist in monitoring and reviewing payroll, fringe benefits, and expenditure accounts for accuracy as budget is spent during the fiscal year. (I.E., that budgets correlate to where expenses are recorded)
- Support the year-end financial audit, SEFA, and other audit schedules
- Maintain indirect cost schedules and assist in the preparation of the annual federal indirect cost rate certification (NICRA)
- Perform allocation processes to include fringe, indirect cost, and facility allocations
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, federal regulations, and company procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience working with Federal grant compliance and Uniform Guidance (UG)
- Experience with NetSuite a plus
- Solid understanding of accounting theory, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Audit Standards (GAAS)
- Experience with grant management, including federal awards and Uniform Guidance (UG) and Government Audit Standards (GAS)
- Knowledge and experience using cloud-based financial and budget software systems
- Proficiency with project cost tracking modules. NetSuite and/or Prophix a plus
- Advanced level of spreadsheet, pivot table and software proficiency with solid analytical capabilities.
- Working knowledge of: techniques used to locate errors in records; budgeting policies, procedures and operations
- Excellent organizational and people skills, strong verbal/written communication skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks with adaptability, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team or in an individual capacity. Ability to manage, motivate, and develop staff
- Ability to manage and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
