Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
- Prepare financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed reports and projections.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure that these practices are in line with GAAP.
- Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation.
- Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Develop budgets in accordance with the financial and strategic goals of the organization.
- Oversee the work of junior accountants and provide them with guidance as needed.
- Work with the finance team to gather and analyze financial data, then use this information to prepare monthly financial reports.
- Prepare and analyze reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with exceptional knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of government contract accounting and an understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
- Strong experience in financial analysis and data accuracy.
- Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good problem-solving and time management skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPA or MBA preferred.
