Job Overview:
Our company is a leading service provider of thin films deposition (PVD) technology, advancing hard disk and memory manufacturing. We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Semiconductor Field Service Engineer to support our customers in Boise, ID. This role involves direct interaction with customers, providing technical support-including troubleshooting, installations, and preventive maintenance, which may require off shift work.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, inspect, set up, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor process equipment in the field to prevent downtime.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, implementing effective solutions.
- Collect data for software-related problems and liaise with headquarters in Japan for resolution.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately and provide comprehensive field service reports.
- Install and maintain equipment control software, maintaining a record of software revision history.
- Participate in the installation of equipment at customer sites.
- Manage stock levels of service parts and equipment, ensuring adequate inventory for repair work.
- Provide training and assistance to customer engineering teams.
- Communicate effectively with customers.
- Escalate serious or complicated repair problems to senior team members.
Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 4-5 years of related experience, including at least 2 years working on vacuum equipment.
- Experience with multi-chamber cluster systems and robotics is highly preferred.
- Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting.
- PLC and other software applications experience is a plus.
- Analytical skills for problem analysis and resolution.
- Willingness to work independently following 3-6 months of on-the-job training.
- Up to 25% car, air, and overnight travel required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and lift approximately 50 lbs.
- Bilingual communication skills (Japanese/English) helpful but not required.
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and adhering to safety guidelines.
- Close visual acuity and physical agility for various tasks.
Work Environment:
- This position requires full-time presence at your assigned office(s)/worksite(s)/territory.
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, ultraviolet light, and lasers.
- Work in enclosed spaces, close quarters, narrow aisles, or passageways.
- Highly time-sensitive situations requiring quick resolution.
- This position will require travel to Asia for the first 3-6 months for training.
- The company will not pursue or support visa sponsorship for this position.
