Diesel Service “B” Technician Position Details
Cowan Systems, with 100 years of experience continues to innovate, excel, and deliver in the transportation industry since our inception. Cowan specializes in dedicated truckload, intermodal, warehousing, brokerage, and driver staffing. Utilizing our fleet of 2,500 tractors and 8,000 trailers. Schedule: Monday-Friday 3PM-11:30PM
Job Duties:
- Perform and understand detailed inspections and preventive maintenance schedules of equipment. Making sure equipment is safe and maintained to DOT and Cowan Standards
- Perform preventive maintenance services and repairs on equipment in a timely manner with little or no supervision under the guidance of the Advanced Diesel Diagnostic “A” Technician, up to and including, mechanical, engine, transmission, emissions systems, steering systems, suspension systems, Bendix, ABS, Air brake, and HVAC systems.
- Using diagnostic programs to complete basic equipment diagnostics.
- Keeping work areas clean and safe for you and others.
- Helps to oversee the Lube “C” Technician under the guidance of the Advanced Diesel Diagnostic “A” Technician.
- Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- 2 years or more of practical experience with tractor and trailer maintenance and repairs.
- Experienced using tools of the trade (including diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools).
- Valid class A or B CDL driver’s license – Preferred but not required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Manufacturer specific training, and or Vocational School, and or College Level Diesel Program – preferred but not required.
- ASE, A/C section 609 Certification- Preferred but not required.
- ASE Certifications – Preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to solve problems.
- Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces. Standing or reaching in awkward and sometimes uncomfortable positions to work on equipment.
- Must provide own tools required for regular maintenance, and repairs.
- Must be a driven individual, possessing a positive attitude, good work ethic, and someone who strives to learn and improve their skill level.
