Job Description: SEC Accountant
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SEC Accountant to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely SEC reporting, financial statement preparation, and compliance with GAAP standards. The ideal candidate will contribute to enhancing internal controls and supporting the organization’s commitment to financial transparency and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and file quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) SEC reports, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Develop and maintain work papers to support financial reporting and disclosure requirements.
Ensure filings and reporting comply with GAAP and stay updated on new accounting standards and SEC regulations.
Collaborate with internal teams to gather, analyze, and validate financial data for reporting purposes.
Support the internal and external audit processes, including providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.
Enhance internal controls over financial reporting by identifying gaps and implementing improvements.
Assist in the preparation and review of XBRL tagging for SEC filings.
Research and document technical accounting issues to support reporting requirements.
Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
3-5+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on SEC reporting and financial statement preparation.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal controls.
Experience with financial reporting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in a public accounting firm or in an SEC reporting role.
Familiarity with XBRL tagging and related software.
Knowledge of ERP systems and reporting tools.
