PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal position for the month of January 2025, with the potential to start in late December based on candidate availability. Individuals in this role will be required to work every day January 2nd-January 24th, up to 12 hours per day. Additional work may be available the week following the Stock Show, January 27th-January 31st.
Overview
As the Stalling Manager, you will play a key role in organizing and managing the stalling process for livestock exhibitors. Your primary responsibilities include assigning stalls or pens upon exhibitor check-in, coordinating trailer move-in and move-out schedules, and staging trailers for efficient loading and unloading of livestock. You’ll ensure smooth arrival operations, liaising between exhibitors and the Exhibitor Services team to provide assistance as needed. This role is essential to maintaining an organized, efficient flow for exhibitors and their livestock.
The ideal candidate is an organized, resourceful individual with experience in logistics and a background working with livestock. Detail-oriented and adaptable, you enjoy the challenge of managing stalling assignments and trailer flow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This individual is customer-focused and able to work efficiently under pressure.
Reports to: Yards Manager, Hill Manager
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assign stalls and pens to livestock exhibitors, ensuring accurate record-keeping and organization of stalling areas.
- Work with the Exhibitor Services team to connect exhibitors with needed assistance upon arrival.
- Organize and oversee arrival and release times, and maintain clear communication with exhibitors and team members.
- Monitor stalling areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to event policies.
- Collaborate with Livestock Operations and NWSS Leadership teams to troubleshoot any stalling or flow-related challenges.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing exhibitor questions and assisting with stalling needs promptly and professionally.

Desired Experience, Skills, & Abilities
- Previous experience working with livestock and familiarity with exhibitor needs is required.
- Proven experience in logistics, event coordination, or similar roles, with a strong ability to manage schedules and prioritize tasks.
- Candidates must be available for early mornings, late nights, and weekends throughout the 16 days of the Stock Show (January 8th-January 24th), with shifts up to 12 hours per day.
- Candidates must have the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work both indoors and outdoors as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing stall assignments and coordinating trailer movements.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal communication skills, especially in high-energy, fast-paced situations.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Working Conditions
National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with large crowds.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $23.00/hour.
- Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
