PLEASE NOTE: This is a seasonal position for the month of January 2025, with the potential to start in late December based on candidate availability. Individuals in this role will be required to work every day January 5th-January 26th, up to 12 hours per day. Additional work may be available the week following Stock Show, January 27th-January 31st.
Overview
As the Hill Manager, you will oversee members of the Exhibitor Services team and ensure all aspects of the Hill Show run smoothly. Working closely with Livestock Operations Management and NWSS Leadership, you’ll troubleshoot issues, coordinate resources, and ensure that our livestock exhibitors have an exceptional experience from arrival to departure.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, service-minded, leader who can manage a fast-paced, dynamic environment while keeping a focus on safety, customer-service, and efficiency. Previous experience working in the Exhibitor Services department is required.
Reports to: Senior Director, Livestock Operations
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support the Check-In Clerks and Check-In Trailer team, ensuring all department functions are carried out efficiently and professionally.
- Train Check-In Trailer team members on customer service standards, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Oversee Livestock Operations Interns with nose count & health paper collection responsibilities.
- Assist with livestock exhibitor check-in and check-out processes, ensuring proper documentation and smooth transitions.
- Serve as a cashier, handling transactions relating to exhibitor needs and feed/bedding orders.
- Coordinate with the Livestock Operations and NWSS Leadership teams to proactively address challenges and develop solutions that enhance the exhibitor experience.
- Ensure a seamless livestock check-in process, and facilitate exhibitor requests.
- Maintain high standards of organization and cleanliness in exhibitor areas, ensuring adequate supplies and efficient move-in and move-out processes.
- Foster a collaborative environment, working closely with other team members to provide exhibitors with timely responses and assistance.

Desired Experience, Skills, & Abilities
- Proven experience managing a team, preferably in a livestock or event setting,
- Previous experience working with or around livestock; familiarity with exhibitor needs.
- Candidates must be available for early mornings, late nights, and weekends throughout the 16 days of Stock Show (January 11th-January 26th), with shifts up to 12 hours per day.
- Candidates must have the ability to stand for extended periods, and be able to travel to any part of our complex (indoors or outdoors).
- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates strong safety awareness and can work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
Working Conditions
National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied surfaces. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with large crowds.
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $23.00/hour.
- Paid sick time offered at the rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
