Working as part of a cross functional team, you deliver the R&D activities required to complete new product development, portfolio maintenance and/or productivity projects with an emphasis on meeting the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with Clif R&D, marketing and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation etc.). You will also write technical reports that will require the analysis and interpretation of results and that lead to conclusions and recommendations and create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

Under the guidance of a manager or a Clif portfolio Brand Steward, the candidate will assist in driving innovation and supporting productivity initiatives. In collaboration with the Brand Steward, they will represent Clif R&D and work closely with teams in marketing, operations, and quality to help develop, coordinate, and commercialize brand projects and programs.

Education / Certifications:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Food Science or related discipline.
Job specific requirements:
+ Minimum 3 yearsof product development experience in the food and beverage industry.
+ Strong technical foundation and technical curiosity.
+ Ability to develop, plan for, and carry out plant trials.
+ Able to develop and drive technical projects with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing, gather, and analyze data, and develop recommendations based on findings.
+ Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and manage complexity- from bench top to commercialization.
+ Participate in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization
Travel requirements:
Ability to travel 25-30% of the time, on average, with both domestic and international travel possible.
Work schedule:
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in East Hanover, NJ with in-office expectations of 2-3 days per week
