Description
We currently seeking an innovative and ambitious Scientist III/IV, Biophysical Developability Assessments to join our Biotherapeutics Discovery department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility.
The selected individual will be talented and experienced as a Scientist III/IV who will conduct a diverse set of biophysical assays related to the potential development of protein biotherapeutics in a fast-paced research environment. This person will be primarily responsible for designing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting assays and data that evaluate inherent protein attributes and physicochemical stability under a variety of conditions. The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker with creative problem-solving skills; a quick learner who takes the initiative and manages workflows for several projects with enthusiasm and resourcefulness; an effective collaborator, working with different functional areas to enhance project knowledge.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform stage appropriate biophysical developability assessments, including biophysical screening of protein attributes on automated platforms, assessing solution behavior, stability, interpret and present findings to other Biotherapeutics Discovery colleagues.
• Develop novel analytical methodologies and evaluate new technologies to improve the overall developability strategy and enhance value.
• Contribute to broader research goals in areas related to biophysical chemistry aimed at developing a better understanding of therapeutic protein structure, stability, dynamics, and function.
• Provide biophysical characterization support for other scientists across Biotherapeutics Discovery; perform other tasks as assigned by manager in a timely manner.
• Improve data quality, consistency, and throughput using automation and analysis scripts. Identify opportunities for innovative automation strategies to streamline operations and boost workflow efficiency.
• Comply with all applicable regulations, perform all work in a safe manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies.
Requirements
Scientist III Requirements:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with seven-plus (7+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
Scientist IV Requirements:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with six-plus (6+) years of experience in related scientific discipline, OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with ten-plus (10+) years of experience in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field
Requirements for both levels:
• Extensive hands-on experience with chromatographic, spectroscopic, electrophoretic, calorimetric, or other advanced protein characterization techniques with several years of experience conducting biophysical techniques in the context of biotherapeutic discovery and/or development.
• Experience conducting protein biophysical techniques in the context of biotherapeutic discovery and/or development, including accelerated stability/forced degradation studies.
• Previous work in protein expression and purification.
• Experience with lab automation; in-depth knowledge (programming, troubleshooting) is preferred.
• Experience with data analysis software and/or modern computer programming languages (MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, SQL, or Java); experience in statistical and DOE software (JMP, R, Minitab, Statistica) is beneficial.
• Strong grasp of physical chemical/thermodynamic principles underpinning protein structure and stability, biotherapeutic quality attributes, CMC requirements, and QbD principles.
• Creative problem solving with a high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Good record-keeping and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent writing, presenting, and communicating skills.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
• Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation Data**
This position offers a base salary typically between $90,000 and $147,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements.
